World Vision? Does anyone know what percentage actually goes to the children who are sponsered by world vision? I am reluctant to sponser because of two reasons. One is the fact that I'm not sure how much actually goes to the children and how much goes into the pockets of a large corperation. The second is the fact that I don't like supporting a religious group, who goes into places and forces/persuades others of their beliefs, I feel this is wrong because these people (whoever they are) most likely already have their own religious beliefs, but are convinced by others that their way is wrong. What are your thoughts?

If you won $7000 on the radio would you give it to World Vision instead of paying off your car? This morning on Sydney radio station 2DAYFM a caller won $7000 in the $10,000 pop quiz. Then she was given the opportunity to give it all to World Vision to sponsor a child for the next 8 or so years. She ummed and ahhed about it, then Kyle and Jackie-O got Ray Martin (World Youth Day spokesman) to convince her to give it to charity. She ended up giving it away. Was it fair to do that? Would you have given it all away?

I am looking for advice for a good charity to help the poor and wondering what people think of World Vision? I am not a Christian so would prefer a non-denomination organization or at least one that does not push a particular religion. why do people donate to the world vision scam? 1) Why do they have class A buildings for their corporate offices all around the world? (do you actually think they put these types of buildings up in Africa or Asia? Research what class A buildings are to get more insight) 2) Has any independent auditor evaluated the validity of their claims/how much money is actually going to developing nations? (who says they donate 81% or 90% of the money collected? Please don't tell me World Vision! We all know how organizations have a talent for falsifying financial information) If no auditor has checked their accounting information and financial records, you can almost be guaranteed that these people are lying- otherwise they could easily make the claims and back it up with concrete independent analysis 3) And just so everyone is clear, all non-profit means is that the entity is not taxed and that they can only retain a certain amount of money each fiscal year. I am not saying that they don't help at all. What I am saying is that they should be clear on exactly how much of each dollar donated goes to the actual cause- and verify it with an independent audit.
